FICVIÑA 25 – 2013

What at one time was one of the most important film festivals of Latin America in the 60’s and 70’s, was cut short due to the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet. This second iteration tries hard to go to the level that it once had, and it’s slowly approaching to be one of the most important moments of the year when it comes to the place to see new movies from Latin America, being some sort of pioneer when it comes to the movies that other festivals will choose.

This year with a particular focus on Argentinian and Chilean cinema, I wasn’t able to attend because I really didn’t have enough money to go there and stay the whole season, but I wished for it, and I was still able to see some of the films that they showed. So, as always, a month after the festival is done, I show you this retrospective of what I’ve seen as some sort of announcement: maybe in the future I’ll make it.

So, as always, the films are in order of preference, with a review if available, a translation if needed, the category in which they played and a rating. Enjoy!
